Ozaukee County, Wisconsin - a great place to raise a family, a great place to live!

A little hisotry...."Ozaukee" is the Chippewa form of the tribal name of the Sauk. The word is likely to mean "people living at the mouth of a river." Others interpret it as "people of yellow earth."

Ozaukee county was created in 1853, but was once part of Washington County.

In 2008, Ozaukee County was rated #2 in Forbes' report on America's Best Places To Raise A Family.

According to Homefacts.com, we get an overall "A" rating in the "Total Crime Index" category.

It is the smallest county in the state, but it is the wealthiest & healthiest.
