The mission of the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust is to protect and preserve the natural areas, open spaces and rural character of Ozaukee and Washington Counties. Through conservation, education and outreach, the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust will preserve the region's rich natural and rural heritage for the benefit of future generations.

VOLUNTEER SCHEDULED WORK DAYS
For all workdays, use available hand tools to cut and remove invasive species. Work outdoors so dress for the weather and please bring gloves if you have them.

Mequon Nature Preserve: OWLT’s largest property with 438 acres Nature Preserve and was developed in partnership with the City of Mequon, OWLT & the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.

SAUK CREEK NATURE PRESERVE
1/2 mile north of Hwy 33 on Moore Road
The Sauk Creek Nature Preserve is a 27-acre natural area in Port Washington. The creek runs north and south over limestone bedrock ledges, and eventually flows into Lake Michigan near the Port Washington Marina. The land is a valuable wildlife corridor, and an outstanding resource for community education and recreation.

FELLENZ WOODS
North side of CTY I (Decorah Road) and 2˝ miles east of CTY G (River Road)
Fellenz Woods: 162 acres in Trenton - OWLT’s second largest property - encompasses nearly 1.5 miles of undeveloped Milwaukee River frontage - contains a 15 acre lowland forest containing hardwood and conifer swamp elements and roughly 60 acres have been replanted with native grasses and prairie species.

BRATT WOODS
At the dead end of Cedar Creek Road on the east side of the Milwaukee River
The 15.5 acre Bratt Woods is located on the Milwaukee River in the Town of Grafton and is easily accessible to area residents via the Interurban Trail. A trail meanders through the rolling terrain of the forest connecting Cedar Creek Road and the Interurban Trail.

DONGES BAY GORGE

Donges Bay Gorge: 23 acres - borders Lake Michigan in Mequon - includes steep lake slopes, an upland lake bluff, upland woods, and a ravine that extends through the property and is an important migratory bird habitat, in addition to housing the only breeding pair of Bald Eagles in SE Wisconsin.

CEDARBURG ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY AREA
Northwest corner of Cty Y (Granville Road) and CTY T (Western Avenue)
CESA is a nearly 40 acre tract of ponds, wetlands, and forest located in the town of Cedarburg. It serves as a refuge for a large variety of wildlife species in a rapidly developing area of Ozaukee County. In addition there is a 3 acre man-made pond. The environment provides homes to numerous waterfowl and amphibians. The pine and spruce trees create excellent roosts for other wildlife.

RIVERBEND

At 88 acres, Riverbend is one of the few large tracts of undeveloped land along the Milwaukee River in Washington County. On the northern part of the site is a 20-acre lowland hardwood forest, which serves as a wonderful example of what the river basin looked like before European settlement. Never farmed because of its swampy bottom, it remains very rich and especially diverse in tree species. The natural streamside vegetation provides ideal habitat for waterfowl, belted kingfishers, and herons.

FOREST BEACH MIGRATORY PRESERVE
(Formerly Squires Country Club)
4920 Country Club Road
Forest Beach Migratory Preserve is a 116 acre site that served as a golf course since the 1930s and is now being transformed into a nature preserve. The property includes wooded lots, several ponds and 160 feet of Lake Michigan shoreline. The property will undergo a restoration to create habitats that support migratory birds. It will also become home to many species of resident birds.
